Cobb County, GA—Innovation Compounding cares deeply about thriving communities and believes small businesses are at the core of every successful neighborhood.
In the midst of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, we know that businesses in our local community are scrambling to take every precaution necessary to keep doors open and revenue flowing. Many companies are sending workers home for days and weeks at a time, and restaurants are experiencing slow or non-existent foot traffic.
"During a time when everyone is asked to participate in social distancing, it's hard to imagine that family-owned restaurants will be able to sustain themselves without the support of neighboring businesses within their reach," said Shawn Hodges, president and CEO of Innovation Compounding.
A little creativity and team spirit are all it took for the employees of the pharmacy to put a plan into action.
In a company-wide email, president Hodges announced to all members on staff that he would match all lunch purchases made to small businesses in the area by 50% (up to $8), on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of every week. To encourage others to dine local, employees participating in the lunch program will submit a 5-star review to Google, Yelp, or Facebook to the restaurant. Businesses with positive online reviews have a better chance of attracting new customers who are searching for places to eat online. Leaving a positive review can also help to increase a business's online exposure, helping them to rank above larger, commercial brands in their area.
Friday, March 13th, began the first delivery of the program at Innovation, not only as a boost to local business but also, so employees of Innovation Compounding do not have to find lunch on their own and further mitigate risk. “As Healthcare workers, we want to keep our employees at low risk while helping decrease that risk for others.” He said.
"Everyone is excited to have a hand in helping local businesses thrive, exploring new menus, and sharing a meal with co-workers. In a time when everyone is fearful and threatened by an economic downturn, we want to offer a sense of hope with compassion. We are all in this together."
